Listening to the Past, Present and Future

The highlight of my day is when I get the privilege of meeting new people and hearing their stories.

Today, I met with a lovely lady named Pat Jollota, the next subject of my Innovators of Vancouver project, and she taught me a lot about the past, present and future. All I had to do was listen.

Having lived in Vancouver my entire life, it was fun to hear stories about the history of my hometown.

It was enlightening to hear that transportation has always been a struggle throughout Vancouver’s history, not just today.

Perhaps the story that made me smile the most was when she told me about the one place in the world that knows us as THE Vancouver: Russia (Thanks Chkalov).

I was curious about her advice for young people trapped between history and society and she simply said: “You have to have passion. Your passion will convert others.”

Consider me a convert.

Nice.  I’ll be looking forward to this one.  I’ve heard her name several times and know that she was involved in politics in some way but I don’t know much about her.  I like her advice.
