In Search Of Mentors

There’s something to be said about the power of creative expression. On the surface, it has a tremendous ability to educate and entertain people, as well as generate a lot of money for the backers of those creative projects. But there is also an under-utilized power of creative expression: the ability to deeply affect, transform and change people and organizations, cultures and subcultures through compelling and purposeful stories. Those stories can be true; they can be metaphors, fables, and parables; but regardless of the type, those stories are exactly what the world needs in order to find a glimmer of hope in this world.

I’m embarking on a new journey in my life. I have finally owned up to my calling as a documentary filmmaker, photographer, and writer. That acceptance has given me mediums to work with, and at the same time, a vision for learning what to say that goes beyond a surface level of education or entertainment. It has never been enough for me just to be able to do something, I have always wanted to say something. An important distinction for what is to come next in my life.

With that, I am in search of mentors that believe in, and work with, the deep power of creative expression that can change society for good and noble intentions. I recognize my need for guidance in this area, and I hunger for the wisdom that is to be found in impacting relationships that are built on mutual respect and collaboration.

As I walk down this road of searching for something to say, I welcome you to join me in my journey. I would also love to be a part of your journey. Maybe that desire to walk together is the foundation of social change?
